The University of Rwanda (UR) is now accepting applications for its September 2025 intake for postgraduate programmes under the East African Community Regional Centre of Excellence for Vaccines, Immunization and Health Supply Chain Management (EAC RCE-VIHSCM). These programmes are designed to train professionals who will strengthen healthcare systems in Africa and beyond.
The EAC RCE-VIHSCM is a special centre hosted by the University of Rwanda, which brings together academic excellence and practical experience in vaccines, immunization, and health logistics. This centre works closely with governments, research institutions, and international organizations to offer high-quality training. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:
• Full tuition fees (worth EUR 6,000 for the whole course)
• Return air tickets in economy class to Kigali and back for face-to-face learning sessions
• Living allowance of EUR 60 per day in Rwanda to cover accommodation, food, and local transport
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
• Must be a citizen of one of the eligible East African countries listed above (For Scholarship)
• Must not be older than 45 years
• Must not have previously received a scholarship from the EAC RCE-VIHSCM
• Must meet the entry requirements of the selected programme listed below
• Self-sponsored applicants from any country are encouraged to apply, and the scholarship eligibility criteria listed above do not apply to them.
AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:
1. Master’s in Health Supply Chain Management (MHSCM):
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Pharmacy, Public Health, Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain, Nursing, or other related health fields
• At least two years of work experience in health supply chain management at a mid or senior level
• For applicants who studied outside Rwanda, an equivalence certificate from the Rwanda Higher Education Council is required. Contact us if you need help with getting this equivalence.
2. MSc in Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance (MPAQA):
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Pharmacy, Medicine, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or other Life Sciences related to health
• At least a second-class upper division or GPA of 3.25/4.5 or 3.5/5 or 70%
• A strong background in pharmacology and chemistry is needed
• At least two years of relevant work experience in pharmaceutical analysis, quality control, or proficiency testing at a mid or senior level
• Equivalence certificate required for foreign degrees
3. MSc in Vaccinology (MVAX):
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Human/Veterinary Medicine, Bioprocess Engineering, or Life Sciences like Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, etc.
• Minimum of second class upper division or GPA 3.25/4.5 or 3.5/5 or 70%
• At least two years of relevant work experience in academia, research, regulatory bodies, manufacturing, hospitals, or pharmaceutical companies
• If GPA is 3.0/5.0 or 60%, at least three years’ industry experience is required
• Equivalence certificate required for foreign degrees
4. MSc in Medical Products Regulatory Affairs (MPRA):
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Biomedical Engineering/Science, Chemistry, or Life Sciences
• Must have a second-class upper division or GPA of 3.25/4.5 or 3.5/5 or 70%
• Two years of experience in related fields such as regulatory bodies, manufacturing, quality control, or hospitals
• Candidates with a GPA of A 3.0/5.0 or 60% must have at least three years of industry experience
• Equivalence certificate required for foreign degrees
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
• A motivation letter addressed to the Director of UR Postgraduate Centre, including your programme of choice and full contact information
• Updated CV (Curriculum Vitae)
• Copies of academic transcripts and degree certificates
• Two reference letters from academic supervisors
• A recommendation letter from your employer
• Copy of national ID or passport
APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
There are two steps to complete your application:
a) Apply to the University of Rwanda
1. Go to the University of Rwanda website.
2. Head to the Admissions section, open the Applicant Portal, and click New Application.
3. Fill out the Biographical Form and click Save. You’ll be given a Student ID Reference Number—please keep this number safe, as it will be required for all future steps.
4. Create a 5-digit numeric PIN (do not begin with zero). This PIN will act as your password to access your student portal. After setting your PIN, exit the page and proceed to the next step below.
