The Government of Rwanda, through the Higher Education Council (HEC), has opened the student loan application process for those aspiring to join Rwanda Polytechnic in the 2025 academic year. This opportunity enables eligible students to receive financial support that covers their tuition and other related academic expenses. But don’t wait too long, applications will only be accepted between July 10 and July 20, 2025.

The loan is provided by the Higher Education Council (HEC), a public institution under Rwanda’s Ministry of Education. HEC is responsible for managing and coordinating the student loan and bursary system in Rwanda, ensuring equal access to higher education for all capable and deserving students. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• Must have completed senior six (S6) in 2024 in Rwanda
• Must possess a NESA Equivalency Certificate confirming completion of S6 in 2024 (for those who studied abroad or in foreign programs)
• Must have been accepted for admission at Rwanda Polytechnic
• Must have a valid National ID
• Applicants with equivalency certificates must also provide their equivalency number and index number

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

The loan is applicable to all academic programs offered at Rwanda Polytechnic. However, students must first secure admission into one of the Rwanda Polytechnic campuses or programs before applying for the loan. Admission is a mandatory condition to be considered for the financial support from HEC.

• Secondary School Certificate (or NESA equivalency certificate if applicable)
• Index Number (for equivalency applicants)
• Equivalency Number (if applicable)

2. Create an account or log in with your existing credentials
3. Fill in all the required fields with accurate and complete information
4. Double-check your application before submitting
5. Submit the completed application before the deadline

Note: Incomplete applications or those with missing information will not be processed.
