HOW TO WRITE RECOMMENDATION LETTER
A recommendation letter is a letter written by someone who knows you well (like a teacher, boss, or mentor) and can speak to your strengths, skills, and character. It is often requested for job applications, college admissions, or scholarships to support your candidacy.
HERE'S WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A RECOMMENDATION LETTER:
1. Introduction:
The letter should start by introducing the writer, explaining their relationship with you, and how long they've known you.
Example: "I have had the pleasure of knowing [Name] for the past two years as their teacher at [School]."
2. Purpose of the Letter:
The writer should explain why they are writing the recommendation (for a job, scholarship, college application, etc.).
Example: "I am writing to recommend [Name] for [position/scholarship/college program]."

3. Your Strengths and Qualities:
This is the main part of the letter where the writer describes your skills, achievements, and qualities. They might mention your academic performance, leadership skills, teamwork, dedication, or other strengths relevant to the opportunity.
Example: "Throughout the year, [Name] demonstrated outstanding problem-solving skills, always going above and beyond in class projects."
4. Specific Examples:
The writer should provide real examples of when you showed your strengths. This helps make the recommendation more personal and believable.
Example: "For instance, during our class project, [Name] took the lead in organizing the team and ensuring we met every deadline."
5. Why You're a Good Fit:
The writer should explain why you are a good fit for the opportunity you're applying for, based on the qualities and skills they've shared.

7. Signature:
The writer should sign the letter, usually with their name, position, and organization (if relevant).
A good recommendation letter helps to show who you are, your potential, and why you're right for the opportunity, so it's important to ensure that it’s both personal and specific.

CALL FOR KEPLER COLLEGE APPLICATIONS FOR JANUARY INTAKE
Kepler College is an educational institution in Rwanda that partners with the nonprofit organization Kepler. It aims to provide students with a high-quality, affordable university education combining online learning and in-person support. The college’s programs emphasize practical skills, career readiness, and employability to help students meet the demands of a competitive job market.
Kepler College is offering an excellent opportunity for Rwandan students to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics in their January 2025 intake with a deferred tuition payment option through an Income Share Agreement (ISA). This means that students can study without needing to pay the full tuition upfront; instead, they can agree to pay back a portion of their income after they secure employment upon graduation. This model allows students to access quality education in Business Analytics while easing the financial burden during their studies, making higher education more accessible and equitable.
However, international students must pay the tuition fees upfront. This policy requires them to finance their studies in advance, unlike the deferred option available to Rwandans under the ISA.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS :
Under the Income Share Agreement (ISA) offered by Kepler College for Rwandan students, students do not pay upfront tuition fees but instead agree to pay a percentage of their future income once they secure employment after graduation. This deferred tuition model allows students to pursue their education without immediate financial burdens, ensuring that the repayment is based on their post-graduation earnings. However, there are no scholarships available for this intake.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT
English proficiency refers to the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively. It encompasses a range of language skills, including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and the ability to comprehend spoken and written English in various contexts. High English proficiency means that a person can communicate clearly and confidently in various contexts, such as academic, professional, and social situations.
English proficiency is often measured through standardized tests such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), Duolingo English test, Cambridge English Qualifications, or other similar exams, especially for non-native speakers who are looking to study, work, or immigrate to English-speaking countries.
However, many institutions (Universities) waive this requirement if the student has completed at least three years of study in a school where English was the primary medium of instruction. This policy helps streamline the application process for students already proficient in English through their previous education.
HOW DO I SHOW THE UNIVERSITY THAT I HAVE STUDIED IN THE ENGLISH SYSTEM?
There is a letter (document) that the student has to request from the School he has graduated from confirming that the student studied his studies in the English system. This document has to be signed and stamped by the head of school administration. See the Sample of this letter via this link:
Click here to open the Link
Some universities, including the African Leadership University (ALU), are revolutionizing the assessment of applicants' English proficiency by offering the ALU English Proficiency Test (EPT) at no cost. This innovative approach not only eliminates financial barriers for prospective students but also ensures that applicants can demonstrate their language skills effectively. To learn more about how to access this free test, click this link:
Click here to open the Link
For the students planning to take any test either the one from ALU or some standardized tests, here's one of the English proficiency measures (EF SET) you can use for practice while preparing for your test:
EFSET LINK
So, when applying to universities, English language requirements can vary significantly. Some institutions may accept standardized tests like Duolingo, IELTS, or others but might also offer waivers if you can prove prior education in an English-speaking system, which is a common policy. Others, such as ALU, may require you to take their own language test, while some universities might not require any proof of English proficiency at all.
Therefore, it depends on the university you're applying to and students should carefully review each university’s policies to identify the best path to showcase their English proficiency. This way, you can choose the most suitable way to demonstrate your English proficiency based on their requirements.
