DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Medical Statistics Officer will:

• Develop and implement medical statistics strategies aligned with the hospital’s strategic plan
• Ensure data security and confidentiality
• Provide statistical data to patients, researchers, and management
• Plan and monitor activities within the statistics service
• Establish guidelines and methods for data collection and analysis
• Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify meaningful trends and relationships
• Evaluate statistical methods to ensure accuracy, validity, and efficiency
• Supervise staff involved in data collection and tabulation
• Prepare statistical reports using graphs, charts, and tables
• Consolidate reports from different hospital departments and projects
• Enter and manage data in the hospital database
• Develop statistical policies and procedures
• Collect, analyze, interpret, and produce hospital statistics
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semester, and annual reports
• Perform any other related duties assigned

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English or French (Swahili is an added advantage)
• Strong teamwork and team-building skills
• Good writing and reading skills
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
• Ethical conduct and professionalism
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Ability to work independently and lead a team
