The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) informs all interested candidates wishing to apply for Teaching Staff and Administrative Staff positions in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools, and who possess the required qualifications, that job vacancies are now open.Register now for new programs at MK SCHOLARS
Applicants are therefore encouraged to submit their applications through the online recruitment system (MIFOTRA – E-recruitment) from 12th to 20th February 2026. The list of available positions can be found in the annex of the official announcement and in the MIFOTRA system.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must:
- Possess the required academic qualifications for the specific position applied for (A0, A1, or A2 as indicated).
- Have relevant teaching or administrative experience where specified.
- Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
- Have strong communication, leadership, and digital literacy skills.
- Meet any additional specific requirements mentioned under each position.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS
SCHOOL LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
- Head Teacher of Secondary School (A0 – 4.II) – 2 Positions
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- At least 6 years’ teaching/administrative experience in secondary schools or 6 years in school leadership for primary head teachers
- Deputy Head Teacher in Charge of Studies (A0 – 5.II)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- At least 3 years’ teaching experience in secondary school or 3 years in school leadership
- Deputy Head Teacher in Charge of Discipline (A0 – 5.II)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Psychology, Psychopedagogy, Psychology, or Clinical Psychology
- Head Teacher of Primary School (A2 – 9.II) – 1 Position
- General Secondary School Certificate in Education
- At least 6 years’ teaching experience in primary school
SCHOOL SUPPORT & ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS
- Matron (A2 – 10.II) – 1 Position
- General Secondary School Certificate in Education
- Candidates must be single
- Accountant Secretary of Primary School (A2 – 10.II) – 1 Position
- A2 Certificate in Accounting
- Patron (A2 – 10.II) – 1 Position
- General Secondary School Certificate in Education
- Candidates must be single
- Educational Psychologist (A0 – 6.II) – 1 Position
- Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Psychology, Psychopedagogy, Psychology, or Clinical Psychology

- English and Kinyarwanda Teacher (A1 – 8.II) – 1
- Mathematics and Physics Teacher (A1 – 8.II) – 1
(Require Diploma (A1) in Education in the relevant subject combination.)
PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHING POSITIONS (A2)
- Pre-Primary and Lower Primary Teacher (A2 – 10.II) – 1
- General Secondary School Certificate in Early Childhood and Lower Primary Education or Normal Primaire
- Languages Teacher (A2 – 10.II) – 1
- General Secondary School Certificate in Teaching Modern Languages (TML), Languages Education (LE), or Normal Primaire
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
For Head Teachers
- Provide academic leadership and ensure curriculum implementation.
- Supervise teaching and learning activities.
- Manage school operations and staff performance.
- Ensure learner discipline, welfare, and safety.
- Prepare budgets and oversee financial management.
- Represent the school in official matters.
For Deputy Head Teachers
- Coordinate timetables and curriculum delivery.
- Supervise teaching activities.
- Manage discipline (for Deputy in charge of Discipline).
- Promote Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
For Teachers
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons according to the national curriculum.
- Assess and monitor student performance.
- Maintain student discipline and positive learning environment.
- Participate in school development activities.
For Educational Psychologist
- Provide counseling services.
- Conduct assessments and support students with learning or behavioral challenges.
- Support parents and staff on child development matters.
For Accountant Secretary
- Prepare financial reports and budgets.
- Maintain school accounts and bookkeeping.
- Manage school assets and financial records.
For Matron & Patron
- Supervise student welfare, discipline, and safety.
- Oversee school health, feeding, and sanitation programs.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must submit:
- Application letter addressed to the Director General of REB
- Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Certified copies of academic certificates
- Copy of National ID
- Proof of relevant work experience (where required)
