AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program offers scholarships for a wide range of graduate programs. Applicants can apply to any graduate program at Cambridge, except for the following business-related courses:
• Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Master of Corporate Law (MCL)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
You can only apply to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge if:
1. You are a citizen of an African country. You must be ordinarily resident in an African country unless you can demonstrate temporary absence for study or work, with an intention to return to your home country.
2. You are applying to pursue an eligible Master’s course, and intend to pursue full-time study. Prospective Scholars can apply across a wide range of disciplines. The only exceptions are Master of Accountancy (MACC), Business Administration (MBA), Master of Corporate Law (MCL), and Master of Finance (MFIN).
3. You meet the academic requirements of the course you are applying for. All courses have their entry requirements listed on their website. Only candidates who meet the entry requirements will be offered an application fee waiver.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
• Academic Transcripts,
• Passport/ID,
• Letters of Recommendation; Usually, two or three recommendation letters from teachers, professors, or mentors who can speak to your academic abilities, leadership qualities, and potential for success in the program.
• Proof of English Language Proficiency: If English is not your first language or you have not studied previous education in English, you may be required to provide proof of your English language proficiency through tests like IELTS or TOEFL.
• Personal Statement: This essay should explain why you are applying for the program, your educational goals, and leadership aspirations, and how you plan to use your education to make a positive impact in your community or beyond.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP:
The application has to be done in four steps:
Step one: Apply for admission to the University of Cambridge via the Scholarship link given at the bottom which must be finished before the degree's financing deadline.
Step Two: The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Statement.
As part of the application process in the University's graduate application portal, students are asked to select funding bodies they are interested in applying to. A range of options are presented to the applicant. Once you select the Mastercard Foundation Scholars program, you will be required to submit a mandatory personal statement.
Step three: Choose a College;
The University is composed of 31 colleges, each offering varied opportunities. You must take time to consider the college you wish to live in. You may want a college near to your department or any other specific requirement.
Step Four: Fee waiver
Master’s applications require a £50 application fee. However, the fee will be automatically waived for applicants of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars program. Please note you must submit the scholarship statement to benefit from the automatic waiver. Students who do not get an automatic waiver and are certain they meet all conditions of the Scholars program are invited to contact the team by a submitting a request:
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
The deadline for submitting applications for funding is the 4th of December 2024 for courses with a 4th of December deadline and 7th of January 2025 for courses with a 7th of January deadline. When making an application, pay close attention to the funding deadline.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:
Selected candidates will receive:
1. Payment of tuition fees
2. Economy travel to and from your country of residence by an approved route for you only
3. An arrival allowance
4. The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application for you only

6. A contribution of up to £75 for TB testing, where this is required

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:
While Chevening does not restrict applicants to specific fields, candidates are encouraged to select programs that will help them make meaningful contributions to their home country upon returning. Each course should be a full-time, face-to-face course of study (not distance learning or part-time) and must start in the autumn term.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To be eligible for the Chevening Scholarship, applicants must:
• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory (not the UK)
• Commit to returning to their home country for a minimum of two years after their award ends
• Have completed an undergraduate degree
• you must have not previously studied in the UK on a UK government-funded scholarship.
• Have at least two years of work experience

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
1. Valid Passport/National ID: A copy of your passport or national ID to verify your citizenship and eligibility.
2. Degree Certificates and Transcripts: Certificates and official transcripts for all undergraduates. These are required to verify academic qualifications.
3. Two References: Contact details of two referees who can speak to your professional and/or academic abilities. Chevening will later request written references directly from these contacts if you are shortlisted.
4. Conditional Offer Letters: If you have received conditional or unconditional offer letters for your chosen UK master’s courses, upload them to the application portal. You may have until July of the application year to meet course offer requirements.
5. UK Master's Program Choices: Identify three UK master's courses you intend to apply to, as Chevening requires that applicants have unconditional offers for one of these programs by a specific deadline in the application year.

The University of Edinburgh is a public research university based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Founded by the town council under the authority of a royal charter from King James VI in 1582 and officially opened in 1583. It is one of the world's top universities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
• Applicants must be residents and citizens or hold refugee status in a sub-Saharan African country.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP?

If you receive a scholarship offer from the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, you can apply for the academic program.
If you are also applying for other scholarships at the University of Edinburgh, please apply directly for the degree program of your choice as well as the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program application.
If you have already secured a place on an eligible degree program, please indicate in your Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program application form that you have already secured a place on the degree program.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications for our Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, for postgraduate degrees only, will open on 1 October 2024 at 10 am and close on 8 November 2024 at 5 pm UK Time. All applicants must have completed the first stage of the application – the Declaration and Eligibility Assessment by the 31 of October 2024 at 5 pm.
