The Rhodes Trust administers the Rhodes Scholarship in partnership with the University of Oxford. It is one of the oldest and most distinguished international scholarship programs in the world, bringing together scholars from over 70 countries. Through this program, successful applicants become part of a lifelong network of leaders, supported by Rhodes House and the wider Rhodes community in the United Kingdom.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded award that covers:

·       Full University of Oxford course fees

·       Monthly stipend of  £1700

·       Application fee for admission to the University of Oxford

·       Student visa costs and International Health Surcharge (IHS)

·       Two economy-class flights (to and from the United Kingdom)

·       Settling-in allowance upon arrival in Oxford

·       Financial support for visa renewal and additional academic requirements when needed

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following conditions (East Africa constituency):

·       All nationalities are allowed

·       Must meet the age requirement (on 1 October 2026):

o   Aged 18–24, OR

o   Under 27 and completed undergraduate degree after 1 July 2025

·       Must have completed or be completing an undergraduate degree by July 2027

·       Must have strong academic performance (e.g., First Class, GPA 3.7/4.0 or equivalent)

·       Must meet the University of Oxford’s English language proficiency requirements

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

Rhodes Scholars may apply for most full-time postgraduate degrees at the University of Oxford, including:

·       Master’s degrees (MSc, MPhil, MBA, etc.)

·       Doctoral programs (DPhil/PhD)

·       Courses in almost any academic field offered by Oxford University

Scholars typically study for two or more years, depending on the selected program.
