Applications are invited for the KAIST University Scholarships 2027 in South Korea, a fully funded opportunity for international students seeking to pursue Master’s, MS-PhD, and PhD programs in science, technology, engineering, business, and related fields. The scholarship provides an excellent opportunity to study at one of South Korea’s leading institutions while receiving financial support throughout the program. The scholarship is offered by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), an internationally recognized institution specializing in science, technology, innovation, and research. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants may receive:

·       Full tuition fee exemption for up to 4 semesters for Master’s students.

·       Full tuition fee exemption for up to 8 semesters for PhD students.

·       Monthly stipend, with the amount depending on the degree program, department, advisor, and research.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Applicants from all countries are eligible, provided they meet KAIST's international admission requirements.

·       Applicants must not hold Korean citizenship. Korean citizens with dual citizenship are not eligible for KAIST International Graduate Admission.

·       Master’s and MS-PhD applicants must hold or expect to obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution by the end of February 2027.

·       PhD applicants must hold or expect to obtain a Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution by the end of February 2027.

·       The previous degree must be equivalent to a four-year Korean Bachelor’s degree.

·       Applicants must satisfy KAIST’s English language proficiency requirements, unless they qualify for an exemption.

·       Applicants who are required to submit an English proficiency test must provide a recognized test score taken on or after September 1, 2024.

·       Applicants of Korean ethnicity may be subject to additional nationality and education requirements.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants may be required to prepare and submit the following documents:

·       Curriculum Vitae (CV)

·       Official academic transcripts

·       Degree certificate or diploma

·       English proficiency test result, where applicable

·       Two recommendation letters

·       Applicant’s citizenship documents

·       Parents’ citizenship documents, where applicable

·       Family registration certificate, where applicable

·       Statement of Purpose

·       Recommendation letter from an employer, if applicable

·       Other supporting documents required by the selected program

Documents should be prepared according to the official KAIST application guidelines and uploaded in the required format.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The application process is conducted online through the KAIST graduate application system.

1.     Carefully review the KAIST graduate admission guidelines and eligibility requirements.

2.     Apply for admission as an international graduate student.

3.     Select your preferred degree program and major.

4.     Enter your personal and academic information.

5.     Upload identification documents and required academic documents.

6.     Provide information about previous academic achievements, experiences, and other qualifications.

7.     Designate up to two recommenders for recommendation letters.

8.     Prepare and submit your Statement of Purpose and required application responses.

9.     Upload your CV and other supporting documents.

10.  Master’s applicants should indicate up to three faculty members whose research interests match their own. Doctoral applicants should indicate a faculty advisor from their department.

11.  Select the appropriate financial resources and scholarship consideration options.

12.  Carefully review the complete application before submitting it and paying the application fee.

13.  Pay the USD 80 application fee, unless eligible for an application fee waiver.

14.  Submit the application before the deadline.

Only PDF files can be uploaded, and each file must generally be 3 MB or less. Applicants should ensure that scanned documents are clear and readable.

Applicants do not need to submit hard copies during the initial application stage. If admitted, they may later be required to submit Apostille- or embassy-verified documents by post or hand delivery.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Applicants who apply for KAIST international graduate admission and meet the scholarship requirements are automatically considered for KAIST scholarships; a separate scholarship application is generally not required.

Applicants should carefully verify their eligibility, program requirements, faculty research interests, English proficiency requirements, and document requirements before submitting the application.

The application deadline is September 1, 2026, while recommendation letters must be submitted by September 8, 2026. The admission decision is scheduled to be announced on December 18, 2026.

Because admission and scholarship requirements can vary by program, applicants are strongly encouraged to consult the official KAIST graduate admission guidelines before applying.
