Applications are now open for the ARES Scholarships 2027–2028 in Belgium, a fully funded opportunity for eligible international students and professionals from selected countries. The scholarship supports specialised Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes as well as continuing training courses in Belgium.JOIN OUR Coaching class for ALU ENGLISH TEST

 

The scholarship is offered through the Academy of Research and Higher Education (ARES), which brings together higher education institutions of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium. Selected applicants will study at participating higher education institutions and develop skills relevant to sustainable development and societal transformation.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

·       International travel expenses.

·       Subsistence allowance.

·       Financial support throughout the scholarship period.

·       Tuition fees for specialised Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.

·       Insurance coverage.

·       Coverage of exceptional visa-related costs for specialised Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.

·       Indirect mission expenses for continuing training participants.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must:

·       Be permanent residents and workers in one of the 32 ARES eligible countries. Palestinian nationals are subject to a specific exception.

·       Hold a graduate degree and meet the admission requirements of the selected programme.

·       Meet the academic requirements of the chosen specialised Bachelor’s, Master’s, or continuing training programme.

·       Have obtained the relevant academic degree no more than 20 years before the start of the programme. This period may be extended by one year per childbirth and/or adoption.

·       Have at least two years of relevant professional experience in one of the eligible countries after completing their most recent graduate degree and before the application deadline.

·       Demonstrate good written and spoken proficiency in the language of instruction of the selected programme.

·       Apply for only one training programme.

·       Meet any additional requirements established by the selected programme.

Basic knowledge of French is considered an advantage for integration into everyday life in Belgium.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

Specialised Bachelor’s Degree

ARES offers specialised Bachelor’s-level training opportunities. Applicants should consult the official programme information for the specific Bachelor’s programme available for the 2027–2028 call.

Specialised Master’s Programmes

Available programmes include:

·        Master de spécialisation en droits humains

·       Master de spécialisation en gestion intégrée des risques sanitaires

·       Specialized Master in International and Development Economics

·       Advanced Master in Microfinance

·       Master de spécialisation en sciences de la santé publique – analyse et évaluation des politiques, programmes et systèmes de santé internationale

·       Master de spécialisation en management de la sécurité de la chaîne alimentaire

·       Master de spécialisation en conservation préventive et gestion des collections

·       Master de spécialisation en gestion des risques et des catastrophes à l’ère anthropocène

Continuing Training

·        Certificat en opérations de cybersécurité et gouvernance des risques

Specialised Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes can last up to 12 months, while continuing training programmes can last up to 6 months.

ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES

Eligible countries include:

Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

South America & Caribbean: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti and Peru.

Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines and Vietnam.

Asia: Palestine.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants should prepare:

·       Two recommendation letters, academic and/or professional.

·       Certified copies of original diplomas.

·       Certified copies of original academic transcripts for all years of study.

·       Proof of occupation for the last five years.

·       Certificate of nationality or a copy of a valid passport.

·       Pre-project, where required by the selected programme.

·       Any additional documents required by the specific programme.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applications are submitted online through the GIRAF platform.

1.     Create and activate a GIRAF account. Applicants without an account must first request account creation.

2.     Log in to GIRAF.

3.     Go to the “Competitive Calls” section.

4.     Select “Application – International Training 2027–2028.”

5.     Complete the application form carefully and upload the required documents.

6.     You may save the application as a draft and continue working on it later through “My Tasks.”

7.     Review all information before submitting.

8.     Submit the completed application before the deadline.

9.     After submission, the application can be found under “My Submitted Applications.”

Important: Once the application has been submitted, it can no longer be modified.
