LECTURER OF AFRICAN LANGUAGE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA (UR)


The University of Rwanda (UR) invites qualified and motivated candidates to apply for the position of Lecturer of African Language. The selected candidate will contribute to academic excellence through teaching, research, consultancy, and community outreach, supporting the university’s mission to promote knowledge development and address community challenges through education and innovation.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·        Hold a PhD with specialization in Kiswahili Education or African Languages.

·        Have 0 years of relevant experience (entry-level applicants are eligible).

·        Demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.

·        Possess strong organizational and time management skills.

·        Show devotion to public service, integrity, accountability, and transparency.

·        Maintain high professional ethics, confidentiality, and zero tolerance for corruption, rape, and sexual harassment.

·        Demonstrate cross-cultural communication skills and active listening ability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching

·        Prepare and deliver course content as outlined in the modules.

·        Teach subjects in the area of specialization.

·        Evaluate students through continuous assessments, tests, and examinations.

Research

·        Develop research proposals aligned with institutional priorities.

·        Secure internal and external funding for research activities.

·        Conduct research addressing community challenges.

·        Publish research findings at national, regional, and international levels.

·        Supervise students’ research projects.

Community Outreach

·        Disseminate research findings to relevant stakeholders.

·        Develop research-based policy briefs for policymakers.

·        Participate in organizing national scientific conferences and workshops.

Consultancy

·        Undertake consultancy activities within the area of specialization.

·        Compete for and manage income-generating consultancy projects.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

·        Copy of National Identity Card.

·        Copy of degree certificate and equivalence certificate issued by the Higher Education Council (for degrees obtained outside Rwanda).

·        Updated Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV).

·        Any other supporting documents relevant to the position requirements.
