ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• You must be accepted to Yale University as an undergraduate student.
• The scholarship is given based on your family’s financial need, not your grades.
• You must send in important financial forms:
o CSS Profile (for all students)
o FAFSA (only if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident)
o Tax documents or proof of income if asked.
• Students from any country can apply—U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or international students.
• You must apply for financial aid before Yale’s deadline (usually February 15 for regular admission).
• Yale looks at your family’s income, savings, and size to decide how much help you need.
• If you keep studying at Yale, you need to apply for financial aid every year (U.S. students); international students usually get help for four years.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Admission Application: Apply to Yale College using Common or Coalition Application.
• CSS Profile: Form to report your family’s financial information.
• FAFSA: Required only for U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
• Tax Returns: Recent federal tax returns and W-2 forms.
• Proof of Income: Pay stubs or bank statements if needed.
• Noncustodial Parent Info: Financial info from noncustodial parent, if applicable.
• Proof of Citizenship/Residency: Passport or green card, if required.
• English Test Scores: TOEFL or IELTS scores for international students.
• Special Circumstances Documents: Letters or proof if you have unusual family situations.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

Applying to Yale involves submitting your admission application and financial aid forms on different platforms. You apply to Yale College using the Common Application . After that, you fill out the CSS Profile on the College Board website for financial aid, and if you’re a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you submit the FAFSA on the federal Student Aid site. Additional documents like tax returns are uploaded through Yale’s IDOC system, and English test scores are sent directly from testing agencies. Although these parts are submitted separately, Yale links all your information together to review your full application. Here is how it is done:

1. Submit Your Application for Admission.
• Common Application: Complete and submit the Common Application with Yale-specific questions. Here

2. Complete the CSS Profile.
• After submitting your application for admission, complete the CSS Profile to provide detailed financial information.
• Submit the CSS Profile Here by February 15.

3. Submit the FAFSA .
• U.S. citizens and permanent residents must submit the FAFSA to be considered for federal aid.
• Submit the FAFSA Here by February 15.

4. Upload Tax Documents and Income Verification.
• After submitting the CSS Profile, Yale may request additional financial documents.
• Upload required tax returns and other documents through Yale’s IDOC system Here .

5. Submit English Language Proficiency Scores.
For applicants whose first language is not English, submit TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo test scores:
• Request TOEFL or IELTS to send scores directly to Yale. Use these codes:
o TOEFL code: 3994
o IELTS: Follow the IELTS official sending procedure
• Duolingo: Use Yale’s code on Duolingo’s site

6. Monitor Your Yale Financial Aid Portal.
• After submitting your application, monitor your Yale financial aid portal for any additional requests or updates.

7. Review Financial Aid Award
• Financial aid awards are typically sent with your admission decision or shortly after.
• Review the award and accept the aid offer according to Yale’s instructions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Applying early doesn’t affect your chances for financial aid; Yale practices need-blind admission for all applicants.
• Special family situations are considered.
