GREEN CARD LOTTERY RESULTS ARE OUT TODAY - MAY 3RD, 2025!
If you applied for the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery 2025 , also known as the Green Card Lottery , today is a very important day. The results are finally out on May 3rd, 2025! In this article, we will explain everything you need to know - from what the Green Card is, how it works, how to check if you were selected, what happens after selection, and all the documents you will need until you fly to the U.S.
WHAT IS A GREEN CARD?
A Green Card is a special card that allows a person to live and work permanently in the United States. The U.S. government gives Green Cards to people from different countries each year through the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Program .
This program is run by the U.S. Department of State, and it is free to apply. Every year, they randomly select about 55,000 people from countries with low immigration to the U.S.
HOW DOES THE GREEN CARD LOTTERY WORK?
1. You apply online (usually between October and November the previous year).
2. You receive a confirmation number after submitting your application.
3. On the result day (this year: May 3rd, 2025) , you go online and use your confirmation number to check if you were selected.
HOW TO CHECK IF YOU WERE SELECTED
1. Go to the official website: open the application link at the bottom of this page to access it.
2. Click on “Check Status.”
3. Enter your:
• Confirmation number (from your application)
• Last name
• Year of birth
• Captcha code shown on the screen
4. Click Submit.
Be careful: There is no email or phone call telling you that you were selected. You must check yourself on the official website. Do not trust messages from strangers.
WHAT MESSAGE YOU SEE IF YOU WERE SELECTED
If you are selected, you will see a message that starts with:
“You have been randomly selected for further processing in the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program...”
This means you won! Congratulations!
You will also see a Case Number , which you must save. It usually looks like this: 2025AF00012345
WHAT MESSAGE YOU SEE IF YOU WERE NOT SELECTED
If you were not selected, the message will say:
“Based on the information provided, the entry has not been selected for further processing...”
Don't give up – you can try again in the next DV Lottery.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE SELECTED?
Being selected does not mean you are guaranteed a Green Card. You still have to go through processing and interviews. Here are the next steps:
STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS AFTER SELECTION
1. Fill out DS-260 Form
• This is the immigrant visa application form.
• You must complete it online at the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC).
• Use your Case Number to log in.
• Enter your personal information, education, work experience, and more.
• Submit it as soon as possible to secure an early interview date.
2. Wait for Interview Appointment
• After submitting your DS-260 form, you will wait for the U.S. embassy or consulate to schedule your interview.
• You will receive an email when your interview is scheduled.

• Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
• Birth certificate
• Police clearance certificate (shows you have no criminal record)
• Marriage certificate (if married)
• Divorce certificate (if divorced)
• Education certificates or work experience proof
• Medical exam results (done at an approved clinic)

• Bring all required documents.
• Answer questions about your background, education, job, etc.
• If approved, your visa will be placed in your passport.
5. Receive Your Visa and Pay the USCIS Fee
• After your visa is approved, you will get a sealed envelope and your passport with the visa.
• Pay the USCIS Immigration Fee online (usually $220).
6. Final Step: Take your flight to the USA
• Book your flight to the U.S. before the expiration date on your visa.
• When you arrive in the U.S., you will give the sealed envelope to the immigration officer.
• You will receive your Green Card by mail within a few weeks at your U.S. address.
IMPORTANT TIPS
• Don’t wait too long to fill out the DS-260 form.
• Make sure all documents are translated into English if they are in another language.
• Only use the official website to check your result or fill out forms.

USA FULL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES (COMMON APP)
COMMON APP is a nonprofit organization of 1000+ colleges and universities that simplifies, informs, and supports your college application journey.
The Common Application is an undergraduate college admission application that applicants may use to apply to over 1,000 member colleges, universities, and community colleges in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, as well as in Canada, Australia, China, Japan, and many European countries.
Applying using the Common app allows students to fill out one application and submit it to multiple colleges and universities, saving time and effort compared to applying separately to each institution.
When applying via the Common Application (Common App), there are generally four types of application decisions that colleges can offer:
1. Early Decisions (ED I & ED II): This is a binding application, meaning that if you're accepted, you must attend the school. You can only apply to one college under Early Decision. If accepted, you must withdraw any other college applications.
2. Early Action (EA): This is a non-binding option that allows you to apply early and receive a decision sooner. If you're accepted, you still have the freedom to apply to other schools and make your final decision by the regular decision deadline.
3. Regular Decision (RD): This is the most common application option. It is non-binding, and you typically receive a decision in the spring. It allows you to apply to as many schools as you wish.
4. Rolling Admission: Schools with rolling admissions evaluate applications as they come in and continue to accept students until their class is full. This process is non-binding, and there is usually no strict deadline.
Each option has different deadlines and requirements, so it's important to check each college's policy on the Common App. It’s highly recommended that you start your application as early as possible so you can apply in the first decisions before their deadlines hence giving you a high chance of getting a full scholarship.
Also, watch how you can fill out the recommenders account forms and submit their Recommendation letters on Common app
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:

• Merit-based scholarships are granted according to the student’s performance, those with high marks are given a high amount of scholarship, and those with low marks are given a low amount.
• If given a Full Scholarship, everything will be covered including Tuition fees, Flight tickets, Accommodation, Monthly stipend, job opportunities at the campus, and others depending on the university
