JOB OPPORTUNITY AT PLAY INTERNATIONAL RWANDA


PLAY International, a French NGO founded in 1999, believes in using sport as a tool to address societal challenges. The organization designs and implements education and inclusion projects for vulnerable children and young people, leveraging sports games as educational tools. Since its inception, PLAY International has reached nearly 1 million children across more than 20 countries and currently operates in seven offices, including its newly established Rwanda office in 2024. The NGO addresses issues such as access to education, gender equality, disability inclusion, and retention in school, and is part of Groupe SOS, a leading European social entrepreneurship group.

PLAY International Rwanda is seeking a Programs Manager on a 12-month local contract to coordinate and implement its projects, ensuring high-quality program delivery and impact. The role is based in Kigali, Rugando Sector, with regular travel expected to districts where PLAY Rwanda operates.Register for new programs at MK SCHOLARS

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Master’s degree in International Development, Humanitarian Action, Education, or related field.
• At least 15 years of experience in project coordination or monitoring and evaluation within international NGOs.
• Proven expertise in development project management, including project cycle management.
• Knowledge of education, gender, and/or sport-for-development sectors.
• Proficiency in monitoring, evaluation, learning, and accountability procedures and tools.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operational and Budgetary Coordination of Projects
• Develop implementation plans, schedules, and provisional budgets for projects.
• Coordinate and monitor project activities and budgets.
• Conduct periodic budget reviews and ensure timely reporting from partners.
• Update and track budget matrices in collaboration with the Country Representative and Finance Department.
• Support the Program Assistant in prioritizing activities.
2. Project Monitoring, Evaluation, and Capitalization
• Monitor and evaluate project implementation for effectiveness and accountability.
• Identify challenges proactively and adjust plans as needed.
• Supervise the preparation of narrative and financial reports for donors.
• Support external evaluations or audits.
3. Strategic Programming and Fundraising
• Identify funding opportunities in Rwanda and the East African region.
• Draft applications for funding or respond to calls for projects.
• Develop new programs aligned with office and headquarters priorities.
• Support advocacy strategy development for each project.
4. Cross-Functional Support to the Rwanda Office
• Promote a positive organizational image in Rwanda.
• Draft and validate external communication content.
• Represent PLAY International in national and local bodies or platforms.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, government institutions, and donors.
