FULL SCHOLARSHIP IN USA FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (COMMON APP)
Applications are now open for international students wishing to study in the United States through the Common Application (Common App). This centralized platform allows you to apply to multiple universities with just one profile and set of documents. The U.S. remains one of the most popular destinations for higher education, offering world-class universities, innovative learning environments, and diverse scholarship opportunities that make studying there more accessible than ever. Whether you’re a high-achieving student seeking full financial aid or looking for universities with test-optional or test-free policies, the Common App is your gateway to making your dream of studying in the USA a reality.
The Common App is used by more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the United States, including both public and private institutions, liberal arts colleges, and research universities. Among them are some of the most generous schools for international students, such as Berea College, Amherst College, Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Chicago. These institutions may offer either need-blind or need-aware admissions and award both merit-based and need-based scholarships to international applicants. By submitting one unified application, students can access various scholarship and financial aid opportunities tailored to their academic achievements and financial background.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
Students applying through the Common App can qualify for several types of scholarships and financial aid programs offered directly by U.S. universities, including:
• Full-tuition scholarships covering 100% of tuition fees.
• Comprehensive financial aid packages that include tuition, housing, meals, books, and personal expenses.
• Work-study programs, allowing students to work part-time on campus to earn additional funds.
• Merit-based scholarships, awarded based on academic excellence, leadership, or talent.
• Need-based scholarships, offered to students demonstrating financial need.
Many U.S. universities (such as Berea College and Amherst College) provide 100% financial aid to all admitted international students who demonstrate need. Others are test-optional, meaning you can apply without SAT or ACT scores if you prefer, while some are need-blind, meaning your financial situation does not affect your chances of admission.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To apply for scholarships and admission through the Common App, you must meet the following criteria:
• Be a non-U.S. citizen or international student applying from outside the United States.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent qualification (e.g., completion of S6 or A-levels).
• Demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership potential.
• Provide proof of English proficiency (through TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo), unless the university is test-optional.
• Be prepared to submit financial aid forms (such as the CSS Profile, ISFAA, or FAFSA equivalent) if applying for need-based scholarships.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
When applying through the Common App, international students generally need to prepare and upload the following:
• High school transcripts (in English or translated)
• Official test scores (SAT/ACT, TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo – if required)
• Letters of recommendation (usually from teachers and a school counselor)
• Personal essay and any supplemental essays requested by the universities
• Copy of passport
• Financial aid forms:
1. CSS Profile (used by many private universities)
2. ISFAA (International Student Financial Aid Application)
3. FAFSA (for eligible students or those with U.S. sponsorship)
APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Create an Account via the application link at the bottom.
2. Add Your Colleges (You can select up to 20 universities)
3. Complete the Common App Sections:
4. Upload Supporting Documents – transcripts, essays, recommendations, and certificates.
5. Request Application Fee Waivers – Many universities waive the fee for international students with financial need. You can select “Fee Waiver” on your profile and provide a short explanation.
6. Submit Financial Aid Forms (CSS Profile, ISFAA, or FAFSA) according to each university’s policy.
7. Review and submit your completed application before the deadline.
NOTE: Each university may require supplemental essays or extra materials (like a portfolio for art applicants), so review each school’s specific requirements carefully.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Test-Optional Universities: Many universities (like Harvard, Princeton, or Berea College) have adopted test-optional policies, meaning you can apply without submitting SAT or ACT scores.
• Need-Blind vs. Need-Aware Admissions:
1. Need-Blind: Schools like Harvard and Amherst don’t consider your ability to pay when reviewing applications.
2. Need-Aware: Schools consider financial need during admission but still offer strong aid to admitted students.
• Scholarship Types:
1. Merit-Based: Based on academic or extracurricular achievements.
2. Need-Based: Based on demonstrated financial need via CSS Profile or ISFAA.
• Application Fees: Most range from $35–$90, but many universities offer fee waivers if you indicate financial hardship.
