The available positions are based in Kigali, Rwanda, and are offered on a full-time, permanent basis. Successful candidates will work in key financial and technical functions and contribute to Britam Rwanda's business performance, risk management, and operational excellence.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Senior Accountant Credit Control

Applicants should:

·       Hold a Bachelor's degree in Business or an equivalent field.

·       Be pursuing professional qualifications such as CPA or ACCA.

·       Have at least 3 years of experience in a similar or equivalent position.

·       Have experience relevant to accounting, credit control, financial transactions, and reporting.

·       Knowledge of computerized accounting applications, particularly ERP systems, will be an added advantage.

Technical Director

Applicants should:

·       Hold a Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

·       A Master's degree is an added advantage.

·       Possess professional qualifications such as ACII, FCII, AIIK, or an equivalent insurance certification, which are highly desirable.

·       Have 8–10 years of experience in General Insurance technical operations.

·       Have at least 3–5 years of experience in a senior leadership role managing underwriting, reinsurance, or technical functions.

·       Demonstrate experience in underwriting, reinsurance, portfolio management, product development, and regulatory compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Accountant Credit Control

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

·       Preparing premium registers and ensuring accurate and timely posting in the ERP system.

·       Ensuring requisitions are processed through EFT and comply with approved budgets.

·       Conducting timely bank reconciliations and resolving outstanding issues.

·       Ensuring commissions are fully paid within the required timelines.

·       Ensuring claims are processed, approved, and paid within the required timelines.

·       Maintaining the fixed asset register and handling capitalization and depreciation.

·       Supporting month-end closure of relevant ERP modules.

·       Reconciling disputed debtor balances.

·       Following up with debtors regarding premium payments.

·       Ensuring all bank credits are receipted and properly allocated.

·       Following up on debits that have not been raised with underwriters.

·       Processing premium refunds.

·       Preparing debtors' reports and sending statements to intermediaries.

·       Facilitating Credit Control Committee meetings.

·       Conducting general ledger account analysis.

·       Supporting fraud prevention through thorough reviews of commission requests, claims payments, and expenses.

·       Providing relevant schedules and information to auditors during audit periods.

Technical Director

The Technical Director will be responsible for:

·       Developing and implementing the company's technical strategy.

·       Providing strategic technical leadership and advice to senior management and the Board.

·       Leading underwriting governance and ensuring effective risk selection and pricing.

·       Developing and implementing reinsurance strategies.

·       Overseeing reinsurance placements, treaty negotiations, and reinsurer relationships.

·       Driving product development and portfolio optimization.

·       Establishing technical frameworks, policies, and guidelines.

·       Monitoring portfolio performance through technical indicators such as loss ratios, combined ratios, claims trends, and underwriting profitability.

·       Ensuring compliance with National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) requirements, insurance laws, Group standards, and governance frameworks.

·       Leading technical transformation, automation, and process improvement initiatives.

·       Working with Claims, Finance, Risk, Actuarial, and Business Development teams.

·       Supporting strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance reviews.

·       Maintaining relationships with regulators, reinsurers, brokers, industry partners, and other stakeholders.

·       Leading, coaching, and developing technical teams.

·       Providing technical reports and management information to senior management and the Board.

·       Identifying emerging insurance risks and recommending appropriate strategies.

·       Promoting innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across technical functions.
