The Ministry of Justice (MINIJUST) is inviting qualified Rwandan candidates to apply for 20 MAJ Assistant positions. Successful candidates will support the implementation of justice services at the local level by providing legal guidance, coordinating judgment execution, strengthening mediation committees, promoting legal awareness, and ensuring effective delivery of community justice services.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law.

·       No prior work experience is required.

·       Demonstrate integrity and professionalism.

·       Have strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

·       Possess excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

·       Be client-focused, accountable, and results-oriented.

·       Have digital literacy skills.

·       Be fluent in Kinyarwanda, English, and/or French. Knowledge of all three languages is an added advantage.

·       Have knowledge of legal aid procedures and practices.

·       Understand gender-based violence (GBV) issues.

·       Be familiar with court processes and procedures.

·       Have knowledge of Rwanda's community justice system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

·       Receiving and assessing complaints from individuals, groups, and institutions and providing legal guidance.

·       Advising citizens on how to access justice services.

·       Conducting research on common legal issues and recommending appropriate solutions.

·       Coordinating the execution of court judgments and mediation committee resolutions.

·       Preparing monthly reports on the execution of judgments.

·       Monitoring payment of government legal fees and charges.

·       Conducting field visits to Mediation Committees (Abunzi) and monitoring their activities.

·       Implementing official decisions related to Mediation Committees at the sector level.

·       Conducting public awareness campaigns on commonly used laws.

·       Organizing meetings and legal education sessions for target groups.

·       Receiving and resolving complaints related to Mediation Committees.

·       Supporting the organization of meetings and training for local leaders and mediators.

·       Assessing training needs of Mediation Committees and recommending improvements.

·       Preparing periodic reports on Abunzi activities and GBV cases.

·       Distributing materials and work tools to Mediation Committees.

·       Providing legal advice and guidance to local mediators.

·       Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
