Located in Nyagatare District, the Hub promotes climate-smart agriculture, large-scale irrigated farming, and agricultural commercialization through modern irrigation infrastructure and innovative farming technologies.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Hold a Technical Diploma (A2) or Advanced Diploma (A1) in Electricity, Electromechanics, or Plumbing.

·       Have at least 3 years of relevant experience for Advanced Diploma (A1) holders or 5 years of experience for Technical Diploma (A2) holders in operating water pumps, irrigation systems, or industrial utilities.

·       Possess a valid Category A driving license (mandatory).

·       Knowledge of electrical controls, motor protection, and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) operation is an added advantage.

·       Be able to interpret gauges, meters, and basic engineering drawings.

·       Be physically fit and willing to work rotational shifts, weekends, and outdoor assignments.

·       Demonstrate strong attention to detail, safety awareness, teamwork, communication, record-keeping, and basic troubleshooting skills.

Reports To: Electromechanical Chief Engineer

Duty Station: Pumping Stations within the Irrigation Scheme

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

·       Operating and monitoring pumps, valves, control panels, and related electrical and mechanical systems.

·       Starting, stopping, and adjusting pumping operations according to irrigation schedules and supervisor instructions.

·       Recording operational data, including flow rate, pressure, voltage, current, and running hours.

·       Inspecting oil levels, cooling systems, bearings, seals, and vibration levels.

·       Detecting and reporting leaks, overheating, unusual noise, and power fluctuations.

·       Assisting technicians with maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.

·       Maintaining cleanliness and safety around pumping stations and control rooms.

·       Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workplace safety regulations.

·       Monitoring water and power consumption for efficient resource utilization.

·       Participating in preventive maintenance, inspections, and shift handovers.
