The selected candidate will work under the School Construction Program and play a key role in implementing environmental and social safeguards frameworks across assigned districts, ensuring that all project activities meet national and international standards

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:

o   Sociology

o   Development Studies

o   Psychology

o   Environmental Management

o   Natural Resources

o   Soil and Environmental Management

o   Environmental Science

·       Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in environmental and social safeguards

·       Experience in construction projects is an added advantage

·       Possession of a driving license (Category A) is an added advantage

Required Competencies:

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·       Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, SPSS, Word, PowerPoint)

·       Ability to manage multiple priorities

·       High level of accountability, inclusiveness, and client focus

·       Critical thinking and attention to detail

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected candidate will:

·       Implement environmental and social safeguards activities in line with project frameworks (ESMF)

·       Prepare and disseminate safeguards guidelines and tools to stakeholders

·       Ensure compliance of construction sub-projects with safeguards procedures

·       Conduct environmental and social screening and prepare ESMPs

·       Organize training and awareness programs for workers and communities

·       Participate in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA)

·       Prepare reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) for project stakeholders

·       Support stakeholder engagement and communication strategies

·       Address grievances through proper reporting systems

·       Collaborate with district and sector officials on safeguards processes

·       Ensure contractors comply with codes of conduct

·       Monitor and implement prevention measures for GBV, SEA, and SH
