ERASMUS MUNDUS EMERaLD FULL SCHOLARSHIP 2026 FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Applications are now open for the Erasmus Mundus EMERald Scholarship 2026, a fully funded opportunity for outstanding international students who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Georesources Engineering across top universities in Europe. This competitive scholarship supports talented candidates from all nationalities and provides full funding to study in multiple EU countries, develop high-level technical skills, and enhance global career prospects
The scholarship is part of the Erasmus+ Programme funded by the European Union and delivered through a consortium of prestigious universities located in Belgium, France, Sweden, and Germany. The programme combines geological sciences, engineering, sustainability and applied research to equip graduates for leadership roles in the green resources and mining sector.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
The EMERald Scholarship is fully funded and includes:
· Full tuition coverage for the entire Master’s programme.
· Monthly living stipend of approximately €1,400 for the full 24-month duration (total ~€33,600).
· Travel support for study mobility between partner countries.
· Health insurance for the duration of the programme.
· Start-up allowance to assist with initial expenses.
· Additional support with visa-related costs.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the EMERald Scholarship, applicants must:
· Hold a Bachelor’s degree (at least 180 ECTS/ 3 years at least) in a relevant field such as Geology, Engineering (e.g., Mining, Chemical, Environmental), or related sciences.
· Have completed a minimum of 22.5 ECTS credits in Mathematics during prior studies.
· Demonstrate English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL iBT 87+ or equivalent). There is a waiver for applicants whose medium of instruction was English
· Be able to meet any additional academic prerequisites specified by the EMERald programme.
AVAILABLE PROGRAMS
The scholarship specifically supports the Erasmus Mundus EMERald Master’s Programme in Georesources Engineering - a two-year (120 ECTS) joint Master’s degree taught across partner universities in Europe:
· University of Liège: Belgium (core mineral resources and processing studies).
· University of Lorraine: France (advanced mineral processing and surface characterisation).
· Luleå University of Technology: Sweden (metallurgy and mining geology focus).
· TU Bergakademie Freiberg: Germany (geometallurgy and resource engineering).
Students typically rotate between these institutions, completing coursework, practical training, and a Master’s thesis.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must prepare and submit:
· Copy of a valid passport.
· Birth certificate (and sworn translation if not in English).
· Recent passport-style photograph.
· Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English.
· Personal motivation letter in English.
· Academic transcripts and diplomas (with certified translations where necessary).
· English proficiency proof (IELTS / TOEFL / equivalent).
· Recommendation letter(s) from academic referees.
· Official proof of residence (issued within the last 12 months).
· Documentation of academic and professional achievements (optional but recommended).

4. Follow any programme-specific instructions (including motivation video if requested).
Selection may include document evaluation and an interview phase for shortlisted candidates.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
· The Master’s programme typically starts in September 2026.
· Around 15 to 20 full scholarships may be awarded each cycle to highly qualified applicants.
· After graduation, students benefit from a quadruple degree recognised by all participating universities.
