The Romanian government is pleased to announce the 2026 call for applications for scholarships aimed at international students from non-EU countries. These scholarships offer a unique opportunity for talented students to pursue higher education in Romania and experience its rich academic, cultural, and social environment. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications within the official deadline and follow the detailed procedures outlined by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Education and Research. These scholarships are awarded through a competitive process based on application files, in accordance with the regulations established by the MFA and the Ministry of Education and Research. Accredited higher education institutions across Romania participate in this program, providing international students access to high-quality education in diverse fields of study, while promoting Romanian language and culture.

 SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Selected candidates will enjoy the following benefits:

·        Exemption from registration fees and other application-related fees.

·        Tuition coverage for the Romanian language preparatory year (if applicable).

·        Tuition coverage for the actual studies, up to the duration of the study cycle.

·        Monthly financial support for students enrolled in the preparatory year, Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD programs.

·        Accommodation in student dormitories within the limits of the government-allocated subsidy.

 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible, applicants must:

·        Be a citizen of a non-EU country (certain exceptions apply, such as Romanian-origin citizens and members of diplomatic missions).

·        Submit a complete application file with all required documents.

·        Provide study documents issued by recognized/accredited institutions.

·        Have good academic results (average of at least 7/10 or “Good” in their home country scoring system).

·        Comply with the enrolment and application submission deadlines.

·        Note: Scholarships are not available for Medicine, Dental Medicine, or Pharmacy programs.

 AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

Applicants may choose from the following study cycles in accredited Romanian higher education institutions:

·        Bachelor’s Degree: 3–6 years, for high school graduates or candidates seeking undergraduate studies.

·        Master’s Degree: 1–2 years, for graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree.

·        PhD/Doctoral Studies: 4 years, for graduates holding a Master’s degree; requires prior agreement with a doctoral tutor and passing the admission interview.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must upload the following via the Study in Romania platform:

·        Copies of diplomas and transcripts, with authorized translations if needed.

·        Copy of birth certificate.

·        Copy of the first three pages of a valid passport.

·        Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English, French, or Romanian.

·        For PhD applicants: Letter of intent with a research project description and agreement from a doctoral tutor.

·        Additional documents for specific cases (proof of name change, parental consent for minors, Romanian language certificates, etc.).

·        All documents must be apostilled or officially authenticated and uploaded as individual PDFs.

 APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1.     Create an account by opening the link given at the bottom.

2.     Complete all requested information and upload required documents.

3.     Submit the application through the platform only. Applications sent by email or in person will not be considered.

4.     Wait for evaluation results, which will be announced around 15 July 2026.

 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

·        Accepted candidates will receive a “Letter of Acceptance for Studies in Romania,” required for visa applications and university enrolment.

·        Scholarship benefits cease if students lose their student status or fail to meet academic obligations.

·        The academic year usually begins on 1 October, though universities may set their own schedules and additional public health requirements.

·        Students are responsible for obtaining a long-stay visa for Romania and covering associated costs.

 APPLICATION DEADLINE

Applications open on 16 February 2026 and close on 31 March 2026.
