ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To qualify for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, applicants must:
• Be citizens of an eligible sending partner country. Check here if your country is included
• Be nominated by their country’s official nominating authority.
• Apply for programs listed and approved for their nationality.
• Meet minimum academic and language requirements set by their chosen university.
• Not hold Hungarian citizenship or dual citizenship with Hungary.
• Not have held a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship in the same study cycle (exceptions apply for upgrading to the next academic level).

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS
In the 2026/2027 academic year, students may apply for:
• Bachelor’s Programs (BA/BSc)
• Master’s Programs (MA/MSc)
• One-Tier Master’s Programs (e.g., Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Architecture)
• Non-Degree Programs (Hungarian language preparatory courses)
• Postgraduate Specialist Training Courses

NOTE: The scholarship offers over 900 programs taught in English across 30 universities in Hungary. Some courses are also available in Hungarian, German, or French, giving you the freedom to choose any program in the language that suits you best.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must upload the following documents by 15 January 2026 at 2:00 PM (CET):
• Motivation letter
• Proof of language proficiency
• Academic transcripts
• Secondary school certificate (for bachelor’s applicants)
• Bachelor’s degree certificate (for master’s applicants)
• Copy of passport or national ID
• “Statement for Application” acceptance in the online system
• Portfolio (for Art and Music applicants only)

NOTE: A Medical Certificate is required only after selection and must be presented upon arrival in Hungary.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Applicants must submit their applications in two parallel steps:

1. Submit through the Stipendium Hungaricum Online Portal
• Create an account and complete your application at the link given at the bottom of this page.
• Upload all required documents.
• Submit before 15 January 2026 at 2:00 PM (CET).
• Only submitted (not saved) applications are accepted.

2. Submit through the Home Country’s Nominating Authority
• Every sending partner has its own national procedure and deadlines. For instance, for Rwandan students, the nominating authority is HEC, and the link to the second step is available there.
• Only applicants nominated by their sending country proceed to the university evaluation stage.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Applicants may choose up to two study programs in order of preference.
• Language requirements depend on the university and program.
• Competitive programs such as Medicine fill up quickly, especially for second-choice applicants.
• Scholarship holders must live habitually in Hungary and maintain satisfactory academic performance (minimum 18 credits average over two semesters).
