The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) offers an exciting opportunity for aspiring African health professionals to pursue a Master of Science in Health Professions Education. This scholarship aims to empower talented young Africans particularly women, refugees, and individuals with disabilities—by providing access to world-class education and leadership development in the health sector. Through this program, scholars will gain the skills needed to design and lead high-quality, innovative, and equitable health education programs across Africa.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Applicants must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application (exceptions apply to applicants with disabilities).
• Must be citizens, residents, or refugees living in an African country.
• Must have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field from a recognized institution.
• Must attach official academic transcripts and degree certificates as proof of completion.
• Should have professional experience in teaching, supervision, or leadership within health-related higher education institutions (or clear evidence of teaching potential for early-career applicants).
• Must provide an institutional endorsement a signed and stamped recommendation letter confirming support and time allocation for study.
• Applicants who already hold a master’s degree are not eligible to apply.

This is an 18-month blended program that combines online coursework with in-person sessions for practical training, mentorship, and networking.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
• Academic transcripts and bachelor’s degree certificate.
• Institutional endorsement letter (for employed applicants).
• Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting academic and professional experience.
• Personal statement outlining motivation, leadership potential, and commitment to health equity.
