ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
All applicants must meet the following general requirements:
• Be a Rwandan citizen
• Be physically and mentally fit
• Have no criminal record and not be under any legal prosecution
• Have not been dismissed from public service unless reinstated honorably
• Not be on the list of persons barred from government employment
• Be of good conduct and character, certified by local authorities
• Be willing to serve in the Rwanda Defence Force

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

1. One-Year Officer Training Program

For candidates who already hold higher education qualifications:
• Must not exceed 24 years of age
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree (A0) or an Advanced Diploma (A1) from IPRC
• Applicants with professional degrees in Medicine or Engineering must not exceed 27 years of age

2. Four-Year Officer Training Program

For candidates completing secondary school:
• Must be between 18 and 21 years old
• Hold a secondary school certificate (A-level)
• Be ready to study one of the following degree programs at the University of Rwanda (Gako Campus): Social and Military Sciences, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, General Medicine, Dental Surgery, General Nursing, Pharmacy, Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, Anaesthesia, Medical Imaging Sciences, Clinical Psychology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Law.
• Applicants must have achieved:
At least 70% in Sciences, Arts, or Languages
At least 90% for those from TTC or TVET backgrounds

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates who complete officer training will:
• Uphold and defend the sovereignty and integrity of Rwanda
• Maintain peace, security, and stability
• Lead and manage military operations and personnel
• Participate in national development programs and peacekeeping missions
• Promote the values of patriotism, discipline, integrity, and professionalism within the RDF

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must present the following documents during registration:
• Birth certificate
• National ID card
• Notarized academic certificates or transcripts
• Certificate of residence and certificate of good conduct from the Sector office
• Certificate of no criminal record

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Eligible applicants should register at District or Sector offices within their place of residence.
Registration will take place from October 20 to November 11, 2025.
Those who miss the registration period will still be allowed to sit for the selection examination.
Applicants are advised to prepare all required documents before registration.

The selection exams will take place from November 4 to November 11, 2025, starting at 8:00 a.m., at the following venues:

Northern Province:

• Burera – November 5 (District HQ)
• Musanze – November 6 (Ubworoherane Stadium)
• Gakenke – November 7 (Ngando Football Field)
• Rulindo – November 8 (Gasiza Football Field)
City of Kigali:
• Nyarugenge – November 4 (Kigali Stadium, Nyamirambo)
• Kicukiro – November 5 (IPRC Kicukiro)
• Gasabo – November 6 (ULK Stadium)
Southern Province:
• Nyamagabe – November 4 (Nyamagabe Stadium)
• Nyaruguru – November 5 (Ndago Football Field)
• Gisagara – November 6 (District HQ)
• Huye – November 7 (Huye Stadium)
