The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is pleased to announce that applications for the MBBS-MGHD Class of 2032 are officially open. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring doctors to embark on a world-class medical education that not only prepares them to serve confidently as general practitioners but also equips them with leadership and research skills to transform health systems. This program is designed for passionate, dedicated, and talented individuals ready to make a difference in Rwanda, Africa, and beyond. Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their applications within the stipulated deadlines to be considered for this prestigious program.

The MBBS-MGHD program is a joint initiative led by UGHE in partnership with the Government of Rwanda and supported by collaborations with globally recognized universities and medical experts. It delivers a comprehensive approach to medical education that integrates clinical practice, public health, and research. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
• Full tuition, housing, meals, local health insurance, and academic-related costs are covered.
• Provision of a laptop and access to all academic resources at no cost.
• Students will earn a full salary during their years of professional service after graduation.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
For Rwandan and International Candidates
• Must be from Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Malawi, Lesotho, Eritrea, South Sudan, and Sudan.
• A-Level/High School Diploma in the following combinations:
1. Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology
2. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
3. Associate Nursing Program.
• Grades: Biology and Chemistry (A or B); Physics or Mathematics (A or B).
• Strong written and spoken English.
• NESA equivalency certificate for foreign qualifications.
• Eligible applicants: 2025 A-Level/Senior 6 graduates and certain healthcare bachelor’s degree holders.

For Refugee Candidates in Rwanda or Africa
• Non-Rwandan nationals with refugee status in Rwanda or another African country.
• A-Level/High School Diploma with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics.
• Grades: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics (A, B, or C with raw marks of 70–100%).
• Must have completed high school strictly in 2024 or 2025.
• NESA equivalency certificate required for foreign qualifications.

NOTE: Undergraduate degree holders must also present equivalency certificates for A-Level qualifications with Biology and Chemistry as principal subjects.

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery – Master of Global Health Delivery (MBBS-MGHD)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
• Two (2) recommendation letters.
• Personal Statement (maximum 500 words).
• Valid identification (National ID, Passport, or Refugee ID).
• National/State Exam Results or NESA Equivalency Certificate.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Applicants should submit their demographic details, academic records, valid identification, recommendation letters, and a personal statement through the UGHE admissions portal. After initial screening, shortlisted applicants will be invited for an entrance exam and interviews.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• UGHE does not accept transfer students.
• Accepted applicants must sign a Public Service Agreement with the Ministry of Health.
• Students cannot defer acceptance; re-application is required if they choose not to attend.
• Tuition and boarding are covered, but students are responsible for personal expenses, transportation, and visa fees.
• Campus accommodation is provided, but family housing is not available.
• All students will participate in work-study as part of their scholarship package.

• Applications Open: 29 September 2025
• Application Closes: 16 January 2026 (5:00 PM CAT)
• Entrance Exam: February 2026
• Interviews: March 2026
• Final Decisions: April 2026
