The KAIST Graduate Scholarship 2026 in South Korea is a fully funded opportunity designed for outstanding international students who wish to pursue master’s or PhD studies. This scholarship covers full tuition fees, provides a generous monthly stipend, and includes health insurance support, ensuring that scholars can focus entirely on their academic and research goals without financial concerns. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
• Full tuition fee waiver for the entire duration of study (Master’s or PhD).
• Monthly living stipend:
o $260 USD per month for Master’s students (350,000 KRW).
o $300 USD per month for PhD students (400,000 KRW).
• National health insurance coverage (supported by department/advisor).
• Access to KAIST’s research facilities and laboratories with advanced technology.
• Affordable on-campus housing and additional student support services.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Applicants must be non-Korean citizens (dual citizens with Korean nationality are not eligible).
• For a Master’s program: applicants must hold, or expect to hold, a Bachelor’s degree before admission.
• For a PhD program: applicants must hold, or expect to hold, both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree before admission.
• Must demonstrate English proficiency with one of the following minimum test scores:
o TOEFL iBT: 83 or higher.
o IELTS: 6.5 or higher.
o TOEIC: 720 or higher.
o TEPS: 599 or higher (new TEPS ≥ 326).
• Applicants from universities in English-speaking countries or English-taught programs may request a test waiver.
• Must submit two recommendation letters from professors or academic advisors.
• Applicants should show strong academic performance, research interest, and leadership potential.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
• Degree certificates (Bachelor’s for Master’s applicants; Bachelor’s + Master’s for PhD applicants).
• Official academic transcripts from all universities attended.
• Two recommendation letters from professors or academic advisors.
• Statement of Purpose (SOP) / Study Plan.
• English proficiency test score report (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or TEPS) – unless eligible for a waiver.
• Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume.
• Copy of passport (information page).
• Research proposal (mainly required for PhD applicants).
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
1. Check Eligibility
• Confirm that you meet the academic, nationality, and English language requirements.
2. Prepare Required Documents
• Gather all necessary documents: transcripts, certificates, recommendation letters, SOP, CV, passport, and English test score (or waiver request).
3. Create an Online Account
• Visit the KAIST online application portal during the application period.
• Fill in personal, academic, and program information.
4. Submit Application Form
• Upload all required documents in PDF format.
• Pay the application fee (non-refundable).
5. Recommendation Letters
• Invite your referees to submit recommendation letters online before the deadline.
6. Screening by KAIST
• Applications are reviewed based on academic excellence, research potential, and overall suitability.
• Some applicants may be contacted for additional evaluation or interview (if required by the department).
7. Admission Decision
• Results are announced online on the KAIST admissions website.
• Successful candidates automatically receive the KAIST Graduate Scholarship (no separate application).
8. Visa & Enrolment
• Admitted students receive an admission package from KAIST.
• Apply for a student visa (D-2) at the Korean embassy/consulate.
• Prepare for arrival, housing, and orientation at KAIST.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• International students can engage in on-campus employment, such as teaching assistantships, research assistantships, and part-time work, to gain practical experience and supplement their living expenses.
• Over 80% of courses at KAIST are taught in English, making it accessible for international students.
