CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS 2025-2026


The University of Rwanda (UR) is pleased to announce the opening of its online application system for undergraduate admissions for the Academic Year 2025–2026. From 16th June to 16th July 2025, all interested candidates are invited to apply for various programs offered across the six UR colleges. Whether you're a national or international student, this is your opportunity to become part of Rwanda’s largest and most respected public university.

UR offers a wide range of programs in fields such as medicine, agriculture, technology, business, education, law, and more. Admission is very competitive and is based mainly on academic performance. Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements for each program, which are outlined in detail on the UR website. All applications are submitted online, and every applicant must pay a small application fee. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following:

1. Academic Qualifications
• A-Level graduates: Must have at least two principal passes in relevant subject combinations.
• TVET Certificate holders: Should have at least three principal passes in related subjects.
• Primary Teacher Education graduates: Must have a minimum of a Credit in relevant combinations.
NOTE: Some programs, especially in the College of Science and Technology, may require a higher minimum score (e.g., 24 points).

2. English Proficiency
• Since English is the language of instruction, students without proof of English proficiency must take and pass an English course at UR. The pass mark is 70%.

3. General Paper Requirement
• A pass is required. If you didn’t pass, you may still be admitted but will have to complete a related course at UR before graduating.

4. International Students
• Must have at least five passes at "O" level and two principal passes at "A" level (or the equivalent) in one sitting.
• Their academic documents must be evaluated by the Rwanda Education Board (REB) before registration. Contact us if you need help with getting an Equivalence certificate (+250798611161)

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS
UR is made up of six colleges, each offering several programs with their own requirements:

1. College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS)
• Programs include Law, Sociology, Journalism, and more.

2. College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS)
• Programs such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental Therapy, and others.

3. College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM)
• Offers Veterinary Medicine, Food Science, Crop Production, and related programs.

4. College of Education (CE)
• Offers degrees in Science, Computer Science, and others in Education.

5. College of Business and Economics (CBE)
• Includes Accounting, Finance, Business Information Technology (BIT), and more.

6. College of Science and Technology (CST)
• Offers Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, etc.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants should prepare the following documents:

• Certified copy of A-Level or equivalent certificate ( for national students who graduated before 2012)
• Certified copy of equivalence (for foreign qualifications). Contact us if you need help with getting an Equivalence certificate (+250798611161)
• National ID or Passport (for international applicants)

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1. Visit the University of Rwanda website at www.ur.ac.rw.
2. Click on the “Admissions” tab in the main menu.
3. For applicants who completed S6 between 2012 and 2024, click “New Application.”
4. International and pre-2012 applicants must fill in biographical details to generate a Reference Number and PIN, then upload the required documents
5. Record your Reference Number and PIN.
6. Pay a non-refundable fee (5,000 RWF for Rwandan/EAC and 6,000 RWF for non-EAC applicants).
7. After 10–15 minutes of payment, return to the portal, login using your Reference Number and PIN, and complete the application submission

NOTE: Please do not use BK Agents for payment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• If you have already started your application in the past but didn’t finish, just pay the application fee using your existing Reference Number. Then log in and continue from where you left off.
• Make sure you record your Reference Number and PIN carefully – you’ll need them throughout the application process.
• Remember that UR programs are competitive. Meeting the minimum requirements doesn’t guarantee admission.
