Are you a researcher or academic from a developing country with a passion for international collaboration and development studies? The CICOPS Scholarships 2026, offered by the University of Pavia and EDiSU (Institute of the Right to University Studies), are now open for applications. This opportunity is designed to support researchers by offering them a short-term stay in Italy to work on joint research projects, deepen academic relationships, and promote knowledge exchange.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:

• Travel costs (round-trip economy class ticket)
• Meals and accommodation in a university residence
• Health and personal accident insurance
• Weekly contribution of €150 (gross)
• Full access to university research and study facilities
• Support in visa processing and invitation letters

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• Must be from a developing country (as defined by the World Bank)
• Must have at least two years of teaching experience or work within international organizations or institutions
• Must not be enrolled in a Doctoral or Postgraduate course at an Italian university
• Should have a strong interest in development studies and research collaboration
• Must obtain an invitation letter from a professor at the University of Pavia

• Science and Technology (Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences)
• Life Sciences (Biology, Medicine, Public Health, Neuroscience)
• Humanities and Social Sciences (Law, Economics, Political Science, Cultural Heritage, Humanities)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

1. Curriculum Vitae (preferably in European format, including a list of publications)
• File name: Surname_Name_CV
2. Invitation Letter from a University of Pavia professor with whom the applicant will collaborate
• File name: Surname_Name_Letter
Note: Files must be named exactly as described. Incorrectly named files will lead to automatic disqualification.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

1. Reach out to a professor at the University of Pavia in your field of research to obtain an invitation letter.
2. Once you receive the invitation letter, complete the online application form here: Apply Online
3. Upload the required documents (CV and invitation letter) using the correct file names.
4. Submit your completed application by the deadline.

NOTE: Applications submitted without an invitation letter will not be considered.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Scholarships are for a stay between 4 to 12 weeks.
• Stay periods should be between January 12 – July 24, 2026 or September 7 – December 18, 2026.
• Scholars may be asked to give lectures or presentations during their stay.
• At the end of the program, a final report and any publications must be submitted.
